PYROCOAT polyimide coated optical fibers are specifically chosen for harsh temperature sensing and communications environments.
PYROCOAT is a thin, hard coating that provides excellent thermal stability, excellent chemical resistance, and mechanical strength all in a small cross-section fiber.
Commercially available polyimide-coated fibers typically support less than one-year lifetime at 300°C. PYROCOAT delivers continuous lifetime temperatures of 275°C for up to 80 years, 300°C for up to 13 years, and can withstand 450°C for short-term (24 hour) periods.

- PYROCOAT coated single mode optical fibers designed for Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), Distributed Strain Sensing (DSS), Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) and Distributed Strain and Temperature Sensing (DSTS) interrogators
- PYROCOAT coated graded-index optical fibers for datacom in harsh environments, DTS, high temperature DTS, Local Area Networks (LAN) with elevated temperature requirements
- -65 to 300°C temperature range
- Options include cabling, additional coatings, connectorisation and metallisation
- No coating degradation in distilled water, 200°C, 2000 psi, 7 days
- No coating degradation in sea water, 100°C, 2000 psi, 14 days
- No coating degradation in mineral oil, 250°C, 2000 psi, 10 days
- No coating degradation in isopropanol, 250°C, 1500 psi, 7 days
- 250°C 20-year continuous upper use temperature
