Linear position sensors and transducers
Accurately measure in a linear motion with position transducers offering excellent repeatability and accuracy with stroke lengths up to 1 metre. The same Hall Effect sensor devices used for measurement of rotary position can be configured to measure the linear position of a magnet in a measurement range of 5mm up to up to ca. 50mm. These are available in both contacting and non-contacting technologies and offer friction free magnetic coupling for extremely long-life cycles.
With self-aligning spherical bearing mounts and an improved O-ring and felt shaft sealing arrangement, the range provides up to ± 0.1% independent linearity and positioning repeatability to 0.01mm.
- Outstanding repeatability and linearity
- Dual-seal design for extended reliability and longer life
- Self-aligning pivot bearing mountings
- Elastomer damped wipers for shock and vibration durability
- Temperature range from -40 to +150°C
The conductive plastic resistance element technology used maintains complete and even contact with very low electrical noise, even under the most arduous physical and environmental conditions and are robust enough to be used throughout many industries, such as industrial, medical, machinery and automotive applications.

Rotary sensors and encoders
These sensors provide feedback on the movement of a rotating object or device (either single turn (up to 360°) or multi-turn (over 360°) such as the shaft of a motor and converts the angular position of the object into an analogue or digital output that can then establish its position or speed.
There are a few different technologies that can be used – our range covers magnetic sensors (Hall Effect sensors), optical and capacitive sensors and offers different outputs depending on the requirements of your application.
We offer a specialist range of contacting and non-contacting rotary position sensors, from both leading suppliers or designed and manufactured in-house in a variety of housings, utilising both cermet & conductive plastic technology with either an analogue or digital interface.
- High reliability and accuracy
- Simple mounting and easy installation
- Outstanding linearity (up to ±0.25%) and repeatability
- Long lifespan up to 5 million cycles
- Up to IP67
- Wide operating temperature range
Non-contacting options offer higher speed operation and the ability to programme them to suit specific applications.

Encoders
Our sister company, Phoenix America LLC manufactures rotary, magnetic, incremental, bearing less and hollow-shaft encoders. These encoders employ magnetic-based technology reaching multiple channel outputs with resolutions topping 10,000 pulses per revolution.
Their unique magnetic encoder design eliminates the challenge and expense of conventional encoder bearing systems along with associated brackets, couplers and mounts.

Fibre optic sensors
The fibre optic sensor has an optical fibre connected to a light source to allow for detection in tight spaces or where a small profile is beneficial and are based on the light absorption/ transmission properties of gallium arsenide (GaAs).
We partner with top manufacturers of fibre optic temperature sensors to bring configurable sensors of a high standard to our range. These sensors operate between temperatures of -100 to 330C with built-in calibration for high accuracy (±0.05°C) measurements and are perfect for applications within the energy, research and medical industries.
- Bringing high accuracy and a high-temperature range for different etching and wafer fab processes
- Low noise solution
- High reliability with low failure rates
- Immune to electromagnetic interference
