Y.I.C. Technologies helps developers to rapidly diagnose and solve EMC/EMI problems with real-time emissions analysis at their lab bench. Their test sets are built on being user-friendly, rugged, highly dependable, and affordable.

EMC Pre-compliance Testing

A significant percentage of products fail to meet the targets required for EMC certification the first time they are tested. Early stage testing is considered the solution, and EMScanners are a time efficient and cost effective alternative to Chambers or and Probe Testing.

With the cost of testing being high, the need for re-testing a product can severely extend the budget, coupled with the time it takes for engineers and designers to investigate the origin of issues identified by the EMC test.

EMScanner:

  • EMScanner is a self-contained very-near-field scanning device which connects to a spectrum analyser or a desk top PC running a copy of EMScanner software. The EMScanner system operates from 150 kHz to 8 GHz and delivers repeatable and reliable results that pinpoint the cause of a design failure in seconds.

    EMScannerR:

    • EMScannerR enables the PCB and design engineers to diagnose EMC/EMI problems between 150 kHz and 8 GHz. EMScannerR provides 8 levels of resolution (60 microns – 7.5 mm). Level 1 resolution (7.5 mm) allows engineers to visualise the hot spots, current loops or intermittent problems in real-time. After locating the unintended radiators, engineers can zoom into the problem by selecting the resolution level based on the density of the board design.

The RFScanner is an Antenna Pattern Characterization, Measurement and Diagnostic Tool on you Lab-bench. It is  a compact bench-top scanner that characterizes antennas in your own lab environment in real-time. It measures the amplitude and phase of near-field magnetic emissions and uses these data provides far-field patterns, bisections, EIRP and TRP and other parameters in seconds and it gives insights into the root causes of antenna performance challenges and helps troubleshoot far-field radiation patterns in real-time.

    • Frequency Range of 300 MHz to 6.0 GHz
    • Far-Field Patterns and Bisections including EIRP / TRP / PRD, Circular and linear polarization and axial ratio patterns
    • Near-Field Insights such as Amplitude and Phase distribution available in  seconds
    • Gain, Efficiency and S11 chart with Supported VNAs
    • “Real-time” real-fast
    • Can be used to evaluate either standalone (i.e. passive) antennas or antennas that are embedded in wireless devices (i.e. active antennas).
    • Simple
    • set up and Easy to use

EMC/EMI issue testing is straightforward and accurate with 3D precision technology.

The EMProbe is used to assist high-density board designers to use off-the-shelf hand-held probes and visualize the root causes of potential EMC and EMI problems during pre and post-EMC compliance testing.

An easy-to-use Robotic Arm controls the movement of the probe in any direction and an external Spectrum Analyzer provides the results. The EMViewer software is used to control the Robotic Arm and the external Spectrum Analyser collects and analyses the results. Different types of Robotic Arms can be used, based on the desired size and resolution.

New feature: Envelope scanning is a major new feature added to the EMViewer software using the EMProbe. Envelope scanning enables the engineer to define the DUT’s 3D “envelope” by setting the probe height for each scanning point, enabling close scanning that allows the probe to go between individual components. The height definitions are saved to the project file after the first calibration, allowing quick and seamless repeatable scans. This feature is only available when using the EMViewer with the EMProbe Robotic Arm.

The Near Field Probe Kit (NFPKit) is a unique and affordable solution to enhance product testing with reliable and accurate live scanning for highlighting EMC & EMI issues. The probes are used to locate, identify, measure, and characterise potential sources of electromagnetic radiation.

Designed by Y.I.C. Technologies, the NFP Kit is designed for measuring near-field emissions for EMC/EMI troubleshooting and pre-compliance testing. Interference radiated from traces or components of electronic PCBs, assemblies, cables, enclosures, or products can also be located. The probe output is proportional to the magnetic field (H) strength present at the probe location.

Ideal PCB projects for EMScanner are boards designed for high speed, high power, and/or high density/complexity. Any PCB that places a premium onboard real estate also qualifies as an excellent candidate. The compact, flat scanner provides PCB design teams with an easy-to-use, cost-effective, and proven tabletop solution. Emission, immunity, filtering, EMI shielding, broadband noise, and Common Mode testing are some of the applications that the EMScanner system addresses in mere seconds.
