PM800 – 800W Open Frame Medical Power Supply

The PM800 is an 800 W AC-DC switching power supply designed for integration into medical and ITE equipment. It delivers 800 W continuously, with 1000 W peak capability for short-duration loads under the specified operating conditions. Seven fixed-output models cover voltages from 12 V to 54 V, allowing engineers to select the required voltage and current combination. The open-frame assembly incorporates a supporting chassis that also assists with heat dissipation and measures approximately 127 × 209.6 × 40.6 mm. BF class insulation, touch current up to 100 µA and earth leakage current up to 500 µA support applications with defined patient-protection requirements, subject to final equipment assessment. PFD, PS ON and remote-sense functions provide control and monitoring interfaces for system integration. Optional PMBus and current-sharing configurations are available where digital monitoring or parallel operation is required.

PM800 - 800W Open Frame Medical Power Supply

FAQs

for PM800 – 800W Open Frame Medical Power Supply

The series offers fixed outputs of 12 V, 15 V, 24 V, 30 V, 36 V, 48 V and 54 V. Maximum continuous current ranges from 66.67 A on the 12 V model to 14.82 A on the 54 V model.

The 1000 W rating is a short-duration peak value. Peak operation is limited to less than 10 seconds at a 10% duty cycle, while average output power must remain below 800 W.

Input derating applies below 90 VAC. Available output is rated at 100% at 90 VAC, 90% at 85 VAC and 80% at 80 VAC.

Full rated output is available up to an ambient temperature of +50°C under the stated operating conditions. Output must then be reduced linearly to 50% at +70°C, and the end-equipment design must provide suitable airflow and heat management.

A fixed airflow requirement is not stated. The thermal information covers both convection and forced-air cooling conditions, so the required cooling method should be established through testing in the final enclosure while observing the temperature-derating curve.

Remote sensing compensates for voltage loss in power cables or distribution conductors. The permitted compensation is up to 0.5 V, helping maintain the required voltage at the load when properly wired.

The standard interfaces include PFD for input-loss indication and PS ON for TTL-controlled output activation. Optional configurations can add PMBus communication, current sharing and redundancy-related signals.

Append -P for PMBus, -C for current sharing or -CP for both functions. For example, a PM800-14C model with both options becomes PM800-14C-CP.

BF insulation, leakage-current ratings and 2 MOPP input-to-output withstand voltage are defined. UL/CSA/TÜV 60601-1 and UL/CSA 62368-1 were marked as certification applications planned for Q1 2026, but completion is not confirmed, so current approval evidence should be verified before design-in.
