The FSP500M-80PA is a 500 W AC/DC switching power supply housed in a compact 1U ATX enclosure. It is intended for integration into medical electrical equipment and other systems requiring a multi-output ATX power architecture. The design addresses IEC 60601-1 and IEC 62368-1 requirements and incorporates BF class insulation. Input-to-output isolation is rated at 4,000 VAC with two means of patient protection. Dedicated DC/DC conversion is used for the +3.3 V and +5 V rails to improve load regulation. The power supply accepts a 90–264 VAC input and provides +3.3 V, +5 V, three +12 V rails, −12 V and +5 V standby outputs, with an optional −5 V output available by request. Its 5,000 m operating-altitude rating, protection functions and integrated cable set support installation in low-profile equipment where electrical isolation, thermal management and connector compatibility must be considered together.

The FSP500M-80PA is designed for medical and other safety-critical systems that require a compact 1U ATX power platform with multiple regulated outputs. It combines 500 W continuous output, BF class insulation, 2 MOPP input-to-output isolation, and a 90–264 VAC universal input range in a low-profile format.
With dedicated DC/DC conversion for the +3.3 V and +5 V rails, three +12 V outputs, integrated protection functions, and support for operation up to 5,000 m altitude, it is suited to system designs where electrical safety, thermal performance, and connector compatibility must be balanced carefully.

FAQs
for FSP500M-80PA – 500W Medical 1U ATX Power Supplies
The power supply operates from 90–264 VAC at 47–63 Hz. Its rated input current is 6 A RMS at 115 VAC and 3 A RMS at 230 VAC.
The standard configuration provides +3.3 V, +5 V, three +12 V rails, −12 V and +5 V standby. A −5 V output can be supplied as an optional configuration rather than as part of the standard model.
Each +12 V rail is rated for up to 16 A continuously, while the three rails have a combined maximum capacity of 41 A. Each rail can also provide an 18 A peak current for at least 10 ms.
The +3.3 V and +5 V outputs may each deliver up to 20 A, subject to a combined output-power limit of 120 W.
The design uses BF class insulation and provides 4,000 VAC input-to-output isolation, rated as 2 MOPP. Input-to-ground isolation is rated at 1,500 VAC with 1 MOPP.
The power supply meets the 80 PLUS Gold efficiency level, with efficiency figures of 87%, 90% and 87% across the stated rating sequence. The minimum specified power factor is 0.9.
Full rated output is specified at +50°C. The available output should then be reduced linearly to 50% at +70°C, with final system operation confirmed through enclosure-level airflow and temperature testing.
The main rails include overvoltage, overcurrent and short-circuit protection with latch-off behaviour. Overtemperature protection also latches the unit off, while a +5 V standby fault uses automatic recovery.
The cable set includes a 24-pin motherboard connector, two 8-pin CPU connections, one 6+2-pin PCIe connection, four SATA connections and a combined PATA and floppy cable assembly.
Operation is rated at altitudes up to 5,000 m. Cooling, load derating, equipment insulation and the complete system environment should still be validated for the intended installation.
