Extended Area Low Temperature (EXLT series) Blackbodies

SBIR’s Extended Area Low Temperature Blackbody systems are designed for applications requiring large-area, uniform IR sources at low and sub-ambient temperatures. These systems provide stable, high-uniformity output across extended apertures, making them ideal for wide-field sensor calibration and environmental testing. With integrated features such as dry gas purge and extended temperature ranges, these systems are optimised for demanding laboratory and environmental test conditions.

This blackbody system can achieve temperatures as low as -40°C in an uncontrolled lab environment. A recirculating refrigerated bath cools the blackbody to control the blackbody surface precisely at the desired setpoint.

The EXLT series is made of: a blackbody, refrigerated bath, temperature controller, cables, and hoses. The operation of the system is straightforward, and maintenance is minimal.

The iProbe from SBIR is a temperature sensor calibrated independently of the blackbody system. To re-calibrate the system you need only exchange the probe with a recently calibrated one.

The optional ultra-black surface coating – VANTABlack®-S can be applied to the source plate providing high-performance emissivity on a flat plate blackbody system.

  • Large-area uniform IR emission for wide FOV systems
  • Extended low-temperature operation down to -40°C
  • High stability and emissivity across large apertures
  • Designed for environmental and chamber-based testing
