Taurus-R Long Range Camera System

The Taurus-R Long Range Camera System is a pan-tilt imaging solution designed for demanding surveillance applications. It combines a high-zoom daylight camera with a high-sensitivity thermal camera for long-range target detection and identification in both day and night conditions. Its dual HD-SDI slip ring provides two simultaneous uncompressed video feeds with virtually zero latency, one from each sensor, for real-time situational awareness. The system can also be configured for IP network video output to support modern command-and-control environments. Built for harsh field use, it operates in temperatures from -32°C to +55°C and withstands shock and vibration in mobile deployments. Its rugged construction and 0.05° positioning accuracy support stable and repeatable surveillance performance on vehicles, trailers, or fixed installations. The platform also supports co-located radar integration for combined radar and optical surveillance. An optional video tracking module can automatically acquire and follow multiple targets, helping reduce operator workload during critical missions.

Taurus-R Long Range Camera System

The Taurus-R Long Range Camera System is engineered for demanding surveillance missions where long-distance detection, reliable tracking, and real-time video delivery are critical. By combining a high-definition EO day camera with a cooled MWIR thermal imager on a rugged precision pan-tilt platform, it supports persistent observation in both daylight and degraded visual conditions.

The system is well suited to border security, mobile force protection, fixed-site monitoring, and counter-UAS support. With dual uncompressed video outputs, optional IP streaming, radar integration capability, and optional automatic video tracking, Taurus-R provides a flexible multi-sensor surveillance solution for operators who need dependable performance in harsh environments.

FAQs

for Taurus-R Long Range Camera System

The Taurus-R integrates two primary sensors: a high-definition electro-optical daylight camera and a cooled mid-wave infrared thermal camera. This dual-sensor setup provides full-colour daylight video together with thermal imaging for heat signature detection at night or through obscurants.

The pan-tilt unit offers 0.05° positioning repeatability. This supports highly accurate preset return capability and precise long-range target tracking with minimal deviation.

The dual HD-SDI slip ring enables continuous transmission of two uncompressed HD video streams across the rotating joint. This allows both the day camera and thermal camera to deliver simultaneous real-time video while the unit pans continuously, without added latency.

Yes. The Taurus-R is designed to support co-mounted radar or other payloads alongside the camera system. This enables a combined visual, thermal, and radar-based surveillance setup for improved situational awareness.

Yes, it can be configured for IP video streaming in addition to standard HD-SDI outputs. This helps simplify integration into Ethernet-based surveillance networks and digital command environments.

When fitted with the optional video tracking module, the system can automatically detect and track multiple targets in the video feed. It uses selectable tracking methods and motion compensation to help maintain target lock even during rapid movement.

Yes. Its rugged design and stabilised pan-tilt mechanism make it suitable for mobile platforms such as vehicles and trailers, as well as fixed installations including towers, border posts, and other permanent surveillance sites.

The Taurus-R is built for outdoor all-weather operation. It functions from -32°C to +55°C and is designed for challenging environments including desert, coastal, cold-region, and other harsh field conditions.
