LightPath G5 IR mid-range MWIR camera solutions combine cooled mid-wave infrared imaging with high-performance continuous-zoom optics to deliver clear, high-contrast imagery at extended ranges.
Designed for demanding surveillance, security and industrial applications, the range bridges the gap between short-range thermal imaging and the most extreme long-range systems. With 3–5 µm cooled MWIR detectors, fast f/4 optics and continuous optical zoom, G5 cameras provide the sensitivity, reach and image quality needed to detect and recognise targets in challenging conditions.
Available in VGA and high-definition SXGA configurations, the mid-range portfolio provides flexible combinations of resolution, focal length and optical magnification to match the mission. Systems are built for continuous operation and can be integrated into fixed, mobile and autonomous platforms.
Built for demanding environments
G5 IR MWIR cameras are engineered for applications where reliable thermal imaging matters. Rugged, nitrogen-backfilled IP67 enclosures, a wide operating temperature range and MIL-STD-810F environmental performance help protect the camera in demanding outdoor and mission-critical environments.
Typical applications include: -Border and perimeter surveillance -Coastal and maritime monitoring -Critical infrastructure protection -Port, airport and remote-site security -Counter-UAS and autonomous surveillance systems -Industrial monitoring and inspection

Range features
A high level overview of what this range offers
- Cooled 3–5 µm MWIR detection – High-sensitivity cooled XBn detectors deliver detailed thermal imagery for extended-range surveillance and recognition.
- Continuous optical zoom – Multiple focal-length configurations provide smooth transitions from wide-area situational awareness to narrow-field target observation, with options up to 18× optical zoom.
- High-performance f/4 optics – Fast optics maximise sensitivity while maintaining high-contrast imagery across the zoom range.
- VGA and SXGA resolution options – Choose 640 × 512 VGA or 1280 × 1024 SXGA imaging to balance system size, resolution and target-recognition requirements.
- Advanced image processing – ROI-driven AGC, adaptive temporal noise reduction and edge enhancement help preserve useful image contrast in complex scenes.
- AI-ready architecture – Clean, spectrally matched imagery is designed to support machine vision and AI-driven algorithms, with EdgeIR™ compatibility available for enhanced object recognition and analytics.
- Rugged, field-ready construction – IP67 sealing, nitrogen backfill, front-element defrosting and operation from –32 °C to +65 °C support deployment in demanding environments.
- Flexible system integration – RS232/422 and IP communications, optional digital video outputs and standard tripod interfaces simplify integration into surveillance and security platforms.
