The Infiniium Z-Series is a range of high-bandwidth real-time oscilloscopes designed for demanding high-speed measurement applications. Bandwidth options span from 20 GHz up to 63 GHz, allowing engineers to observe sub-5 ps rise times and multi-100 Gb/s data streams in detail. Each model offers 2 or 4 analogue channels with up to 160 GSa/s maximum sample rate for capturing ultra-fast transients and data bursts. The series combines extreme performance with a very low noise floor and high effective number of bits for accurate waveform representation. Users can start with a lower-bandwidth or 2-channel configuration and upgrade bandwidth or channel count later as requirements evolve. Deep memory up to 2 Gpts supports long captures and detailed analysis of complex or bursty signals. RealEdge™ signal architecture helps maintain high fidelity and low distortion at very high frequencies. Optional application software supports protocol decode, jitter analysis, and compliance testing for advanced communications and computing designs.

Range features
A high level overview of what this range offers
- Up to 63 GHz real-time bandwidth – Capture ultra-fast signals with rise times below 5 ps and data rates above 100 Gb/s while preserving critical high-frequency content.
- Extremely low noise and jitter floor – Improve waveform fidelity and measurement confidence by reducing oscilloscope-induced error.
- 2 or 4 analogue channels with field upgrades available – Start with a configuration that fits current needs and expand channel count later to protect long-term investment.
- Up to 160 GSa/s sample rate – Gain fine time resolution for detailed analysis of fast transients, serial data, and short-duration events.
- Deep memory up to 2 Gpts – Capture long records and rare events in a single acquisition for more complete debugging and validation.
- RealEdge™ signal architecture – Maintain high ENOB and low distortion at tens of GHz for accurate high-speed signal characterisation.
- Broad analysis software support – Add protocol decode, jitter analysis, and compliance applications for advanced design validation workflows.
- High-frequency probing and direct coax connectivity – Support demanding measurement setups with InfiniiMax probes and precision 1.85 mm adapters on higher-bandwidth models.

FAQs
for Infiniium Z-Series Oscilloscopes
Both DSOZ and DSAZ models share the same core hardware performance, but DSA versions include additional built-in analysis capabilities from the start. In practice, DSA models are positioned for users who need advanced signal analysis, jitter tools, protocol decoding, and compliance-oriented workflows immediately, while DSO models provide the same high-performance acquisition hardware with software options added as needed.
Yes. The Infiniium Z-Series is designed with upgradeability in mind. A 2-channel model can be upgraded to the corresponding 4-channel version, allowing users to expand measurement capability without replacing the mainframe. This helps protect investment as application needs grow.
Yes. Most Z-Series models can be upgraded to higher bandwidth tiers, depending on the specific instrument. This allows users to start with a lower-bandwidth configuration and increase performance later as testing requirements become more demanding. The top 63 GHz versions already represent the maximum bandwidth in the range.
The maximum sample rate depends on channel usage. On 4-channel models, using all channels supports up to 80 GSa/s per channel. When fewer channels are active, hardware resources can be combined to reach up to 160 GSa/s in interleaved operation. This gives users higher timing resolution when fewer active channels are required.
No. The Z-Series is focused on ultra-high-speed analogue signal measurement and provides 2 or 4 analogue channels depending on model. It does not include built-in mixed-signal or digital logic channels, making it best suited for demanding signal integrity, SERDES, and broadband communications work.
For very high-frequency measurements, the Z-Series supports InfiniiMax high-bandwidth active probing solutions for signals up to around 30 GHz, while higher-frequency work is typically performed using direct coaxial connections. Higher-bandwidth models include precision 1.85 mm adapters to help preserve signal fidelity when testing extremely fast signals.
The Infiniium Z-Series supports a broad range of optional application software for jitter and noise analysis, high-speed serial protocol decode, and automated compliance testing. Available application areas include interfaces such as PCI Express, USB, DDR, SATA, Ethernet, and related high-speed standards, helping turn the oscilloscope into a complete debug and validation platform.
