2.4GHz ISM Radios and SoCs

AMICCOM offers a huge variety of devices for 2.4GHz wireless applications. Besides the bare radio ICs, usually interfaced by SPI from a customer’s MCU of choice, most of them are available with an attached application MCU, as so-called SoC (System on Chip), as well.

The portfolio ranges from rather low data rate devices to chipsets for transmission speeds up to 6 Mbps. High TX output power (even up to +20dBm) and good sensitivity eliminates the need for additional external hardware (like amplifiers or FEMs) for most use cases. Low power consumption/good efficiency is a key feature of many parts.

The so-called “Wake-On-Radio” (WOR) feature and integrated packet handling features reduce the workload for the application MCU, which further helps to save power and extend battery run-times.

Range features

A high level overview of what this range offers

  • TX, RX, TRX devices for the 2.4GHz frequency range available
  • Supported modulation types: (G)FSK)
  • Over-the-air data rate: up to 6Mbps
  • TX output power: up to +20dBm (100mW)
  • RX sensitivity: e.g. down to -90dBm @data rate 2Mbps; IF BW = 2.4MHz (for illustration purposes only, as this parameter is highly modulation/receiver setup dependent)
  • High resolution, fast settling fractional synthesizer à perfectly suited for frequency hopping systems
  • TX/RX payload data FIFO
  • Integrated packet handler with CRC, FEC and data whitening options
  • “Wake on Radio” (WOR): the radio can listen for incoming packets or transmit predefined payloads autonomously, without steady interaction from the MCU, at given, user-defined intervals
  • Commonly used QFN type packages.
