The ARCspectro VIS-NIR allows measurement of the reflectivity of materials and varnishes over the entire solar spectral range of 360-2500, with just one meter. This is of particular interest in the field of painting and for the construction or solar energy industry as it can be used to determine how much light is absorbed and reflected.

Principle
The ARCspectro VIS-NIR spectrophotometer consists of a combination of a grating spectrometer, for the visible spectral range (360nm to 950nm), with a FTIR spectrometer for the range from 900nm to 2500 nm and has been specially developed for the measurement of total solar reflection. Both spectrometers are connected to a 5 cm integrating sphere.
A high-performance halogen lamp is integrated into the sphere, which illuminates the sample with perfectly diffused light.
The following illustration illustrates the VIS-NIR reflection spectrum of two different colors. Their reflectivity is the same for both colors in the visible range, but in the NIR range it is considerably different. Although these two colors would look identical to the human eye, one of them absorbs more solar radiation than the other.

Software
The ARCspectro VIS-NIR comes with a free program compatible with Windows 7 & Windows 10. The spectrometer is connected to a computer via the USB port and is automatically detected.
The software is a very easy-to-use application that allows to extract and store spectral results such as colorimetric and TSR values from the measured sample after just 5 seconds of measurement.
The total solar reflection (TSR) is calculated according to ASTM ® standards G173 and E903. A high-performance halogen lamp is integrated into the Ulbrichtkugel which illuminates the sample with perfectly diffused light.
