Planar switch-mode transformers

Planar transformers are suitable in applications where designers need compactness and very low height over printed circuit boards (PCB), typically DC/DC converter in brick size.

Windings are designed on multi-layer PCB which are arranged in panels and manufactured in the highest volume practicable allowing exact repeatability of leakage inductance and capacitance.

Core flat shape offers a wide surface to dissipate heat generated internally to the component. It is also possible to optimise core cross-section to reduce power losses.

Planar components are easily embedded into the PCB of the entire application, reducing manufacturing time and improving automation.
