The Semtech LR2021 is a fourth-generation ultra-low-power LoRa® transceiver that delivers robust connectivity across terrestrial and satellite networks. Designed for next-generation IoT applications, it supports communication in sub-GHz, 2.4 GHz ISM bands, and licensed S-band, enabling truly global coverage.
The LR2021 features fourth-generation LoRa® IP with enhanced performance, longer range, and improved spectral efficiency. It provides dual terrestrial and satellite connectivity supporting LoRa®, LR-FHSS, FLRC, and SATCOM communications. The transceiver is backward compatible with previous LoRa devices and fully compliant with the LoRaWAN® specification, while offering expanded modulation support for fast long-range communication.
It is also compatible with multiple low-power wireless protocols, including Amazon Sidewalk, W-MBUS, Wi-SUN FSK, and Z-Wave when integrated with third-party stacks. The LR2021 integrates an advanced RF and analog architecture, enabling a single-SKU, multi-region design that reduces external BOM costs, PCB footprint, and overall power consumption, all while delivering superior sensitivity, range, and performance compared to previous LoRa transceivers.

Range features
A high level overview of what this range offers
-
Multi-band operation – Sub-GHz, 2.4 GHz ISM, and licensed S-band radio for terrestrial and satellite networks.
-
Multi-PHY compatibility – Supports FLRC, LoRa®, FSK, OOK, O-QPSK, and LR-FHSS, enabling low-power wireless protocols with third-party stacks.
-
High-speed & Long-range – FLRC up to 2.6 Mbps, LoRa® up to 200 kbps, providing fast long-range communication.
-
Multi-region operation – Single, switch-less front-end design simplifies hardware and reduces BOM costs.
-
Transmitter efficiency – Output power from +22 dBm to -10 dBm for energy-efficient operation.
-
Advanced receiver performance – Multi-spreading-factor receiver with low noise figure, improved CAD, and LoRa® sensitivity down to -142 dBm @ SF12/125 kHz.
-
Enhanced frequency tolerance – Increased frequency offset tolerance removes the need for a TCXO and large thermal compensation.
