EM9293 5G Sub6 GHz M.2 Module

The EM9293 is a second-generation 5G module built for high-speed IoT and networking applications. It supports 3GPP Release 16 5G NR on Sub-6 GHz bands in both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes. With peak data rates of up to 4.9 Gbps downlink and 1.3 Gbps uplink, it enables reliable multi-gigabit wireless performance. The module also falls back to 4G LTE and 3G when 5G is unavailable, helping maintain continuous connectivity. Its M.2 30 x 52 mm form factor is pin-compatible with earlier modules, simplifying upgrades. An integrated dual-band GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou for positioning and timing. The EM9293 also offers secure boot firmware, dual SIM support, and an optional embedded eSIM (eUICC) for flexible deployment. Designed for demanding environments, it is well suited to industrial routers, enterprise gateways, rugged laptops and tablets, surveillance systems, and digital signage.

FAQs

for EM9293 5G Sub6 GHz M.2 Module

Yes. The EM9293 supports both 5G NR standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes, allowing operation with pure 5G core networks as well as existing LTE-assisted 5G deployments.

The EM9293 is the higher-spec variant in the same 5G module family. It supports wider 5G carrier aggregation of up to 300 MHz compared with 120 MHz on the EM9291, supports more LTE layers, and includes a dedicated GNSS antenna port for an active antenna.

Yes. The EM9293 uses the standard M.2 30 x 52 mm form factor and is pin/pad-compatible with earlier EM-series modules such as Cat-20 LTE and first-generation 5G models, making upgrades easier with minimal redesign.

The module integrates GNSS support for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou with dual-band L1/L5 operation. It can work with a dedicated GNSS antenna or share a cellular antenna depending on the design.

No. The EM9293 is designed for Sub-6 GHz 5G operation and does not support mmWave bands.

Under ideal conditions, the EM9293 supports up to 4.9 Gbps downlink and 1.3 Gbps uplink. Actual throughput depends on network capability, carrier aggregation, antenna setup, and signal conditions.

The EM9293 provides four cellular antenna connectors and one GNSS connector. Typical implementations use two to four cellular antennas for 5G/LTE performance, plus an optional dedicated GNSS antenna.
