Visible light imaging

Visible light imaging

Together, with our worldwide strategic partners, the visible imaging technology we provide reaches new heights within key markets such as security with our Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) solutions, and bio-medical and microscopy with highly sensitive and specialist visible imaging cameras. Our portfolio of visible light imaging cameras performance and surrounding capabilities enable light detection in the pure visible light spectrum (typically 400 to 750nm), and additionally from UV (200nm) to Near-IR (1000nm). Some of our latest back-illuminated sCMOS detectors provide an outstanding quantum efficiency of up to 95% at 600nm, whilst also offering detection of UV photons with a quantum efficiency of nearly 40% at 200nm and Near-Infrared photons with a quantum efficiency close to 20% at 1000nm.

Our visible light imaging experience is based on years of providing high-end solutions for OEM’s unique applications. If your project requirements are simple, our in-house imaging experts can support you by providing their wealth of knowledge and guidance on COTS products to suit your needs.

High-speed laser illumination

High-speed laser illumination

For image and video recording of fast processes in industry and research, supporting illumination sources are necessary for guaranteeing the high-quality required for your high-speed camera solution. Additional illumination allows the camera to select shorter exposure times and thus automatically leads to faster frame rates in the so-called high-speed range of several thousand to millions of frames per second. In addition to classic halogen lamps and powerful LEDs, laser illumination offers additional advantages because it operates in very short pulses down to 1 ns and can therefore massively reduce disturbing motion blur. Monochromatic laser illumination with high spectral intensity can even make objects and processes visible that usually dazzle the camera with strong process light. Examples include high contrast visualisation of molten pools during welding, cutting or modern additive production processes (3D printing).

  • High-speed laser illumination allows shorter exposure times and faster frame rates
  • Noticeable reduction of disturbing motion blur due to 1 ns short laser flashes
  • Visualisation of hidden fast processes (spectral process light suppression)

Imaging camera modules

High-quality imaging camera modules for integrating into your own system. We offer a very broad range of camera modules (that still require a lens) and zoom block cameras that are equipped with a motorised zoom lens. Our selection of visible light imaging camera modules varies with different sets of specifications to suit different design requirements.

Whether your end application is medical, machine vision, robotics, UAV, security or military, there are a number of factors to consider before you select your camera module. Specifications such as spectral range, resolution, sensitivity, shutter type, video rate, digital video interface, and environmental conditions are all important factors that can be crucial to having your desired operation from your camera system. Our in-house imaging experts can guide you through product selection to ensure you end up with a solution that will meet your expectations. If none of our COTS camera modules fit your requirements, together with our world-leading camera partners, we can provide you with a bespoke custom module to your exact needs.

  • The latest CMOS sensors offering the required resolution, speed, and sensitivity
  • A large choice of video interfaces compatible with all technical requirements
  • Low SWaP for integration into small robotics applications
Imaging camera lenses

Imaging camera lenses

When building a camera, selecting a lens that is fit for purpose is paramount. Our offering of high-end imaging lenses from our world-leading partners contains industrial and military specifications to ensure operation in the harshest of environments.

There are certain criteria to be considered when selecting a lens for your camera to make sure the lens you choose is best suited to performance needs and the operating environment. Light collection (lens aperture), durability, shockproofing, IP rating, size, weight, and power (if motorised) are all factors that if are not considered, could be the difference in the success or failure of your camera system.

Our imaging experts are on hand to support you through product selection to ensure the lens you choose delivers to your project requirements, no matter how stringent.

  • A wide variety of lenses suitable for even the strictest industrial requirements
  • Demonstration units available for pre-purchase testing
  • Customised lens development for OEM requirements
Scientific imaging cameras

Scientific imaging cameras

Scientific cameras are primarily designed to capture microscopy images and related applications that require minimal noise interferences from the camera’s response to a light signal. The visible light imaging solutions we provide in this specialised field operate at high sensitivity to allow performance in low light applications. Our cameras deliver high performance, accuracy, and reliability, with customisation options available if you have specific requirements that need to be met.

For individual applications including Fast Confocal Imaging, ITRF, FRET, FRAP, FLIM, Optogenetics, Ca-Imaging, Vm-Imaging, STORM, PALM, UV-Ablation, UV-cutting, and many more, we are well-positioned to provide a complete turn-key solution or sub-system for you. Our collaboration with leading microscope suppliers and our in-house expertise enables us to find the best fitting solution for your request.

  • A range of sCMOS cameras with best-in-class sensitivity
  • Cooled cameras for low light, long exposure applications
  • Intensified cameras for photon detection
  • UV sensitive cameras
Video analytics and image processing

Video analytics and image processing

Applying video analytics is an important factor for getting the performance required from your camera system. Video analytics technology processes digital video signals using an algorithm to perform desired functions. It is best applied in applications where intelligent technology is required to identify the slight differences between normal/common activity of an object and activity that would be considered uncommon or suspicious. These applications cover ISR, infrastructure inspection, and natural resource management.

Video analytics processors come in a variety of sizes and features, providing you with the flexibility to ensure you select the exact fit for your application needs. These analytics capabilities cover directional motion, adaptive motion, vibration removal, object removal, object counting, camera sabotage, abandoned object, loitering detection, stopped vehicles, and auto-tracking. The video analytics and image processing solutions we provide enable you to focus on the features which solely meet your objectives rather than having to develop the complicated video processing element. If you have specific requirements, we offer hardware and software customisation to ensure your solution is fit for the purpose.

  • Low SWaP image processing boards for integration on aerial systems
  • Visible and infrared imaging fusion
  • Automatic video tracking
