The CT-4250NSP-SE1L-E is a compact Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver designed for serial Fibre Channel links over multimode fibre.
Operating at a nominal wavelength of 850 nm, it supports data rates from 1.062 to 4.25 Gbps, making it suitable for multi-rate environments and evolving storage networks. The module is optimised for short-reach applications, offering link distances of up to 150 m on 50/125 µm fibre and 70 m on 62.5/125 µm fibre. A single +3.3 V supply powers the integrated 850 nm VCSEL transmitter and high-sensitivity receiver, simplifying power-rail design.
The device includes a duplex LC optical interface and an AC-coupled differential electrical interface, easing integration with standard host boards. Digital diagnostic monitoring via a two-wire serial interface (SFF-8472 compliant) provides real-time insight into operating parameters for improved reliability and predictive maintenance. The design targets harsh environments with an extended case operating temperature from –40 to +85 °C. Internally, a block diagram on page 3 shows separated optical and electrical sub-assemblies with integrated control, memory and safety features for robust operation.
