1×9 transceivers are an industry standard multi-sourced form-factor providing several connector options based on application and environment. The 2×9 transceiver portfolio is an enhancement, based on the 1×9 pinning, with extra functions delivering both the Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface (DDMI) and Transmitter Disable (TxDis).
Many wavelength combinations including CWDM allow deployment over both Single Mode (SM) and Multi-mode (MM) fibre with distances covered up to 200 km. The choice between plastic and metal ST connectors can allow engineers to solve ESD or isolation problems easily by only selecting a different transceiver type. A metal shield or fully metallised plastic housing can help resolve EMI design challenges.
