Single Molecule Detection
Single molecule experiments present us with the considerable challenge of utilizing the limited photon budget of dynamic, single fluorescent molecules while simultaneously avoiding photobleaching. Andor iXon EMCCDs have continued to radically outperform sCMOS detectors in this most demanding of low-light applications.
Super-Resolution – SRRF-Stream+
SRRF-Stream+ is the latest version of our real-time super-resolution microscopy functionality that works on compatible Andor cameras. SRRF-Stream+ opens up the possibility of performing real-time super-resolution microscopy on conventional modern fluorescence microscopes. Depending on the image datasets, an improvement in resolution from 2- to 6-fold (50-150nm final resolution) can be expected. The latest version has been revised to provide even better image quality while retaining all the original advantages of SRRF-Stream.
Reduced phototoxicity
The iXon facilitates the use of the lowest possible excitation power while maintaining an excellent signal-to-noise ratio, thereby minimizing phototoxic effects. No other camera is as adept at preserving the physiological behavior of your cells over extended measurement periods.
Lowest fluorophore concentrations
In fluorescence microscopy, there is a continuous effort to achieve ever-lower fluorophore concentrations to avoid disturbing the physiology of the living cells being studied. The superior sensitivity of iXon facilitates the use of unprecedentedly low marker concentrations, thereby minimizing the "observer effect."
Single Photon Counting
iXon Ultra offers the absolutely lowest noise level possible, providing the degree of differentiation required to reliably detect and register single photon events, ideal for demanding quantum physics applications such as studies involving entangled photons.

iXon Ultra & iXon Life Series
The iXon Ultra brings out the best in EMCCD technology.
When only the best is good enough. The market-leading EMCCD camera, Andor iXon Ultra, has long been recognized as the most powerful and versatile solution for the most demanding and low-light applications. Available for both physical and life science applications, the iXon Ultra offers unbeatable flexibility and functionality. It features market-leading TE cooling, ‘2-in-1’ EMCCD and CCD readout modes, and a host of other high-end features.
iXon Life, high performance at a low cost!
Andor’s latest iXon Life EMCCD platform is exclusively available for fluorescence microscopy applications and is designed to provide single-photon sensitivity with absolutely unrivaled price-performance. With unmatched sensitivity, iXon Life is perfect for single-molecule detection and live cell microscopy with minimal phototoxicity or photobleaching, but at a price not typically associated with high-performance EMCCD cameras.
