Crimpless Redlink® / Versatile link connector
Supplier: Firecomms
Technology type: Fibre Optic Cables, Connectors and Assemblies
The Firecomms crimpless friction plug, by use of a simple latch, is secured directly to the 2.2 mm POF cable providing a good retention force without need for a crimp. By following four easy steps, an electrical engineer without special training in optics can perform termination:
- Strip jacket from cable using Firecomms POF cutter (PC-220F-410)
- Insert stripped POF into connector plug
- Secure the connector by folding* over the latch
- Polish the fibre using polishing disc and paper (two steps, grit grades).
*A duplex connector can easily be assembled by aligning two simplex connectors over each other, inversed, then engaging the latches together.
