VPX SBC provide a variety of high-performance SBC and I/O solutions. For example: NAI’s 68C3 is a robust 3U OpenVPX multifunction I/O and communication control board featuring three function module slots for customisable I/O and communication tasks. Some modules include FIFO data buffering for enhanced performance. With multiple DSPs, the motherboard offers higher bandwidth and dedicated pre-processing control for each module, eliminating the need for multiple specialized single-function boards. This design increases packaging density, saves enclosure slots, and reduces power consumption.
The 68C3 board, known for its low power consumption and high performance, is ideal for rugged defense, commercial aerospace, and industrial applications. Within a VPX chassis, it acquires sensor measurement data, controls simulation signals, and transmits information to an external host processor via Gigabit Ethernet (Gig-E) or PCIe. Its pre-tested functions can be easily combined in limitless ways, with each I/O function having dedicated processing to relieve the system’s Single Board Computer (SBC) of unnecessary data management overhead.
