Ferrite cores

Ferrite cores

We offer a wide range of ferrite cores in terms of materials (i.e. properties) and shapes and sizes. The two major materials classes Mn-Zn and Ni-Zn are sub-divided into materials optimised for power, signal, and EMI shielding applications, or special functionality like shielding - with further material grades designed for certain permeabilities, frequency ranges, and temperature behaviour. Ferrite core parts are pressed from powder cores and sintered, meaning any shape which can be formed with a pressing tool can be designed. Available standard shapes comprise cores suited for bobbin or direct windings, bars, rods, plates, and tiles.

We offer the entire range of combinations of material and shapes, with the option to design customised solutions. Our engineers together with our partners help to find the optimum solution in terms of performance and costs.

Nanocrystalline cores

Nanocrystalline cores

Nanocrystalline cores are the perfect solution for EMI shielding applications (common mode chokes CMC), mid-frequency transformers up to about 80kHz, current transformers (CT), and sensors for residual current devices (RCD). Since the first cores were designed about 35 years ago, we are able today to offer a broad variety of different materials and shapes optimised for growing markets: electric transportation including charging, power conversion for renewable energy technologies, railway, and smart meters. Different materials cover the permeability range from 5000 to several 100.000 and saturation induction up to 1,7 T, maintaining low losses allowing for compact designs. Special hysteresis loops (R, Z) are also available. Cores made of thin ribbon, so any shape which can be made from a wound or stacked ribbon is possible to design: toroids, oval or rectangular shapes, also cut into pieces and/or combined to shapes like E-cores, as well as bars.

Our Magnetics Products Technology Centre, which manages our brand Acal BFi kOr, supports you with the selection of the right material, shape, and finishing, and develops customised products quickly and efficiently.

Nickel iron alloys

Nickel iron alloys

High permeability alloys of non-oriented nickel-iron or grain-oriented iron-silicon are used today in many special applications, mainly at low frequency, but also up to 40kHz for thinnest tapes. Each of these materials has unique properties making them perfect for reactors, static magnetic devices, current transformers, magnetometers, flux gates, magnetic amplifiers (MagAmps), and others. Our engineers together with our partners can help application engineers to find the optimum solution in terms of performance and costs.

Powder cores

Powder cores

Powder cores cover a huge range in terms of materials, often derived from common sheet or ribbon materials, and shapes/sizes. The major material classes iron, alloys, nickel-iron-molybdenum, iron-silicon, iron-silicon-aluminium, amorphous, and nanocrystalline are sub-divided into materials optimised for certain permeabilities, saturation behaviour, and frequency ranges. Parts are pressed from powder cores, so any shape which can be formed with a pressing tool can be designed. Available standard shapes comprise cores suited for bobbin or direct windings, bars, or plates.

Powder cores are mainly used for chokes and magnetic inductors in power applications, but – especially iron powder parts - also as magnetic construction elements. We offer the entire range of combinations of material and shapes, with the option to design customised solutions. Our engineers together with our partners help to find the optimum solution in terms of performance and costs.

Amorphous cores

Amorphous cores

We have an extensive range of amorphous soft magnetic materials which have been developed over many decades. Only a few alloys based on Iron and Cobalt have significant technical and commercial relevance today. All of them are produced as thin ribbons, so any shape which can be made from a wound or stacked ribbon is possible to design: toroids, oval or rectangular shapes, also cut into pieces and/or combined to shapes like E-cores, as well as bars and plates.

Co-based alloys have the best soft magnetic properties and are used as current transformers (CT), high-quality signal transformers or in filters, as magnetic amplifiers (MagAmps) in Switched Mode Power Supplies, spike killers, and other special applications.

The standard Fe-based material is a contemporary and efficient alternative to electrical steel (Iron-Silicon), being used mainly in 50/60Hz transformers and chokes for medium frequency / small ripple. Our Magnetics Products Technology Centre, which manages our brand Acal BFi kOr, supports you with the selection of the right material, shape, and finishing, and develops customised products quickly and efficiently.

Magnetic core accessories

Magnetic core accessories

To use soft magnetic cores in inductive components, accessories like coil formers, bobbins or housings are needed. We offer a comprehensive choice of these parts suiting our cores. Modifications of standard shapes are possible.
