FLIR Lepton® - The radiometric revolution

The FLIR Lepton® is a radiometric-capable LWIR camera solution that's small enough to fit inside a smartphone, and ten times less expensive than a traditional IR camera. Using focal plane arrays of 160 x 120 or 80 x 60 active pixels, Lepton can easily be integrates into native mobile-devices and other electronics as an IR sensor or thermal imager. The radiometric Lepton captures accurate, calibrated, non-contact temperature data in every pixel of each image for even greater utility in commercial applications. Non-radiometric versions are also available.


Lepton 3 and 3.5

The newest additions to the Lepton range, FLIR Lepton 3 and 3.5, have a 4 x increase in thermal resolution (focal plane array of 160 x 120 active pixels), whilst still remaining super small, powerful and lightweight. Radiometric options are available.

Thermal cores

FLIR's thermal camera cores are designed for easy and efficient integration into higher level assemblies and platforms. Original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) design and integrate FLIR's core modules into systems that are manufactured and sold under their own company name or product brand.


The new Boson longwave infrared thermal camera core sets a new standard for size, weight, and power (SWaP) without skimping on performance or innovation. Boson uses FLIR’s new XIR™ expandable infrared video processing architecture to enable advanced image processing, video analytics, and communications even at low power consumption levels.

Quark 2
A quantum leap ahead in the design and capability of longwave thermal camera cores, Quark 2 provides leading-edge imaging performance and reliability in an affordable, compact, lightweight package. With high shock and vibration tolerance, Quark 2 is designed for years of maintenance-free operation.

The PathFindIR® II is an affordable, 320x240 uncooled thermal camera that gives drivers the power to see clearly in total darkness, as well as through smoke, blowing dust, and light fog. Its automated pedestrian and animal detection alarms give drivers visible cues when hazards are in or approaching the car’s path.

Tau 2
Tau® 2 is the next generation product in FLIR’s Tau family of thermal imaging camera cores. Two key differences are the introduction of: enhanced electronics for improved image processing; and FLIR’s 336 x 256, 17µ-pitch (0901) uncooled sensor format.


Thermal security cameras

Acal BFi's Imaging Competence Centre

The ICC is our central technical laboratory in Europe. Based in Groebenzell (near Munich, Germany), it employs trained technical specialists in the field of thermal imaging.

With a dedicated resource available to our customers, the specialist team integrate, calibrate and service all types of thermal-imaging equipment. With the latest equipment and training they can support uncooled LWIR and cooled MWIR thermal cores to complete thermal-imaging systems, such as EOIR PTZ surveillance systems.

The ICC is at the core of our thermal-imaging offer and has enabled customers to design and develop their thermal infrared solutions. It provides customers with:

  • Thermal zoom lens calibration (NUC)
    The NUC process is done using blackbody

  • Backfocal distance adjustment / infinity focus
    The infinity focus is done using blackbody with collimator

  • NETD / MRTD measurement
    The NETD / MRTD measurements are done using thermal targets in front of a Blackbody that are projected to the camera with collimator

  • Cooler replacement
    Acal BFi have a US government-authorised Technical Assistance Agreement in place with General Dynamics to replace cooled engines in their long-range cooled InSb Thermal Zoom MWIR cameras
